What are cookies
Cookies are small text strings that the websites visited by the user send to his terminal (usually the browser) where they are stored before being re-transmitted to the same websites during the same visit to the website (session cookies) or later, even after several days (persistent cookies). Cookies are stored, according to user’s preferences, by the individual browser on the specific device used (computer, tablet, smartphone).
During the navigation on a website the user can also receive on his terminal cookies that are sent from different websites or web servers (so-called “third parties”), on which certain elements may reside (such as, for example, images, maps, sounds, specific links to pages of other domains) present on the website that he or she is visiting.
Cookies, which are usually found in users’ browsers in very large numbers and sometimes with features of long temporal persistence, are used for different purposes: computer authentication, session monitoring, storing information on specific configurations regarding users’ accessing the server, etc.
Later in this document we will refer to cookies and all similar technologies by simply using the word “cookie”.
Types of cookies
Technical cookies are those used for the sole purpose of “transmitting a communication over an electronic communication network, or as strictly necessary for the provider of an information society service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user to provide this service “(see Article 122, paragraph 1 of the Code).
They are not used for other purposes and are normally installed directly by the website owner or manager. They can be divided into browsing or session cookies, which guarantee the normal navigation and use of the website; analytics cookies, similar to technical cookies when used directly by the website manager to collect information, in aggregate form, on the number of users and how they visit the website; functionality cookies, which allow the user to browse according to a series of selected criteria in order to improve the service rendered to the same.
The installation of these cookies does not require the acquisition of a prior consent of the users, while the obligation to provide information pursuant to art. 13 of EU Regulation 679/2016, which the website manager, if using only such devices, may provide in the manner he or she deems most appropriate.
The websites of Turismo Medico Italia use technical or similar cookies:
The websites of Turismo Medico Italia which show the information banner required by the provision of the Privacy Authority n. 229 of 8/5/2014 install a technical cookie on the visitor’s device to demonstrate the consent to the installation of cookies and that prevents the banner from being repeated. If this cookie is deleted, the banner reappears on the first step on the website.
The cookie is called viewed_cookie_policy and its duration is 365 days.
Profiling cookies are aimed at creating user profiles and are used in order to send advertising messages in line with the preferences shown by the user in the context of web browsing. Due to the particular invasiveness that such devices may have in the private sphere of users, European and Italian legislation provides that the users must be adequately informed about their use and express their valid consent.
The art. 122 of the Code refers to them where it provides that “the storage of information in the terminal equipment of a contractor or a user or access to information already stored is permitted only on condition that the contractor or user has given his or her consent after being been informed using the simplified procedures referred to in article 13, paragraph 3 “(article 122, paragraph 1 of the Code).
The websites of Turismo Medico Italia do not use first-party profiling cookies
Visiting a website you may receive cookies both from the visited website (“owners”) and from websites managed by other organizations (“third parties”). An example is the “social plugins” of Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Instagram, Pinterest, LinkedIn, etc. These are parts of the visited page generated directly by the aforementioned websites and integrated into the page of the hosting website. The most common use of social plugins is aimed at sharing content on social networks.
The presence of these plugins involves the transmission of cookies to and from all websites managed by third parties. The management of the information collected by “third parties” is governed by the relevant disclaimers to which reference should be made. To ensure greater transparency and convenience, the web addresses of the various disclaimers and cookie management methods are given below.
